Cards – Issuance, loading, and use
Where can I get my card issued?
Personalized cards are issued at the Larissa Urban Transport ticket offices in the Central Square.
What do I need to get my card issued?
Depending on the card category, you must present the corresponding supporting document:
• Student card: Presentation of a valid student ID or certificate of enrollment.
• Large-family card: Presentation of the corresponding valid ID or supporting document.
• For any other category: The corresponding supporting document proving eligibility for issuance is required.
The relevant application form is to be completed at the Central Square ticket offices.
Does the student need to be present for the card to be issued?
- Yes. The personal presence of the eligible individual is required, as a photograph is taken during the issuance of the personalized card.
- Can I get my card issued without visiting the ticket offices? The application (request for issuance) can be sent electronically to the email address ekdotirio@astikolarisas.gr, along with the required details. In the case of a minor, the parent’s application/declaration may be submitted after being electronically certified via gov.gr (digital document certification). However, the physical presence of the student/eligible individual at the Central Square ticket offices remains mandatory for the photograph to be taken and for the card to be collected.
Do I need to bring a photo with me?
No. You do not need to bring a photograph with you.
The photo is taken at the Central Square ticket office during the card issuance process.
If the beneficiary is a minor, what is required?
-
In the case of a minor beneficiary, a declaration of consent from the parent regarding the processing of the minor’s personal data is required. Therefore, for the issuance of a card to a minor, one of the minor’s parents must be present during the process, in addition to the minor themselves.
In the event that neither parent can be present, the declaration of consent for the processing of the minor’s personal data must be electronically certified by both parents (via the digital document certification service at gov.gr).
Parents can download the personal data processing consent form from the following link: Personal Data Processing Consent Form.
Next, the consent form for the processing of the minor’s personal data, digitally signed by both parents, must be sent to the email address: ekdotirio@astikolarisas.gr. Once this step has been completed, the minor may visit the ticket office to fill out the application for an unlimited-travel pass and have their photo taken, thereby allowing the card issuance process to proceed.
How long does it take to issue a card?
The card issuance process takes approximately 5–10 minutes, provided the necessary documents have been submitted.
Ticket Office Operating Hours: • Monday to Friday: 06:30 to 22:30 • Saturday: 08:00 to 22:30 • Sunday: Closed

3. Via the Larissa Urban Transport website at the following link: https://larisa.buscard.gr/, by entering the number/code printed on the card and clicking the “Search” button.
What do I do if I lose my card?

Any remaining balance on the card is not lost and is transferred to the new card.
What do I do if my card isn't working?
If your card is not working, you can visit the ticket offices at Central Square to have the issue checked.
If the card needs to be replaced due to a malfunction, the replacement is provided free of charge.
Can someone else use my personalized card?
No. The personalized plastic card is linked to the cardholder and cannot be used by another person.
However, there is also a simple, non-personalized paper card, which is not linked to a specific individual and can be used by whoever holds it.
When do I need to renew my student card?
The renewal of the student card depends on the expiration date recorded on the card, in accordance with the validity period of the student pass or certificate of enrollment.
When do I need to renew my student card?
The student card is renewed each school year upon presentation of the student’s new pass or relevant documentation.
Important: The school pass is issued by the school. Students do not obtain the pass from urban transport ticket offices but from local bookstores; the pass changes color each year. They then take the pass received from the school to the ticket offices at the Central Square to have their card issued.
Can I issue a personalized card for another person?
No. Issuing a personalized card requires the presence of the beneficiary in person, as a photograph is also taken.
An exception is the simple paper, non-personalized card, which can be issued without the specific beneficiary being present.
What is the difference between the standard paper card and the personalized (plastic) card?
Standard paper card: The paper card is not personalized and can be used by its holder. It can be loaded with a standard full-fare ticket, and the following ticket offer applies: • For every 10 tickets purchased, 1 free ticket is added. • Up to two sets of ten can be added—meaning 20 tickets plus 2 free ones.
Personalized (plastic) card: The plastic card is linked to a specific holder and can be loaded with up to four sets of ten tickets—including the corresponding four free tickets. Additionally, a monthly pass can be loaded onto the same plastic card. There is no need to issue separate cards for individual tickets and the monthly pass; the same card can be used interchangeably, depending on your needs. For example, you can load tickets, then choose a monthly pass, and later switch back to loading tickets.
Furthermore, holders of personalized cards do not lose the remaining tickets loaded onto the card in the event of loss; upon reporting the loss at a ticket office, they are issued a new card containing the remaining available tickets. In short: a personalized (plastic) card offers advantages over a paper card.
What do I do if my details change?
Should the beneficiary’s details change, you may visit the Central Square ticket offices and inform the staff of the new information.
Your details will be updated on the card in accordance with the established procedure.
